He gathers the weary close

Habakkuk 3:16-18

The tribe of Gad finds itself in a hard and difficult time; place of bad news and sheer exhaustion.  Struggle after struggle with no fruit nor food.

Can you relate?  Is this the season that you find yourself in?

YET in this place Gad chooses to rejoice.

“I will rejoice.”

“I will joy in God”

And in that choosing of joy it is THEN God moves, making you like the deer.

He will give you the steady feet to walk on through and up into the “high hills”.

At times like this it is hard not to look at the reality yet He asks us to look to Him with eyes of faith.

He asks that we worship in the midst of the dark night.  Even as Paul and Silas praised in the midnight hour there is power in our praise that can shake and change the situation.

Trust in the power of Him and His promises.  Don’t let reality cancel your faith but make it the opposite.  This is a time to declare your faith through worship, prayer and the declaring of His promises.

What happened to Gad?

Genesis 49:19

“Raiders shall raid Gad but he SHALL TRIUMPH at last.”

Satan tries to make us lose our faith but like Gad, don’t quit in the battle.  Triumph is coming.

Deuteronomy 33:20

“And of Gad he said………

Blessed is he……

He is a lion………

His territory is enlarged……”

Gad did not surrender to oppression, to bondage.  Gad stood to fight as he proclaimed and declared the promises of God.

Do not be passive.

Be eager

Be hungry

Be thirsty

Be bold in your faith.

Worship God in the hard times and you WILL conquer this mountain.

He who breathes stars

Into existence

And who cradles

The galaxy in His Hand

Also holds the one

Who aches for more

Than this world can give

And He curls the fingers

Of those that reach for Him

Into the warmth

Of His hands

As He gathers the weary close

So that His heart beats

Out The message

That His hold is strong

Emmanuel, God with us

Never alone

And never let go

Finding quiet

I stare not outwardly but inwardly as the morning sun slowly rises; hands wrapped around the warmth of a cup filled with fragrant coffee. In the quiet hush of the day I find my soul rushing into the concerns of the present. I am learning to let them rise up and to face each anxious circumstance.

This unveiling brings them into the light of day where they can be released into His hands. I breathe deeply knowing that the whisper of God’s presence is with me and then with shuddering breaths I exhale the quiet murmurings of my troubled soul.

Minute after minute He weaves eternity into today with the slow quiet ticking of a heart so desperately in need of His grace. It is in this stillness that heaven touches earth. My earth. My day. This present quiet.

Mundane moments in this quiet lowly place are where I receive His mercies new and fresh every morning. This becomes a sacred, secret place as I invite Him to enter once again.

A weighty understanding falls that worship is costly. So I press in closer to Him as I bow my head as I offer sacrifices of praise to the One who paid a price much greater than I. So I watch as the shadows recede in the light of His presence.

Everything in life will change but He is my constant in the midst of the messy moments of every day. He turns my gaze back out again, to face the day. His truth rises within my heart even as the sun upon this new morning.

I begin to sense an almost imperceptible shift as my frantic thoughts are not so frantic now. Another rhythm quiets the staccato beat of this heart of mine. How sweet the sound as the chattering of my soul stills.

He is teaching me how to live in the quiet even in the midst of the noise.

Dancing With Destiny

Dancing with Destiny

How often have we heard the phrase “God has a dream for you” yet I feel it is more accurate to say that God has already dreamt ABOUT you.

There are days appointed for you, a destiny that God has set before you were even born.

Psalm 139:13-16 Amplified Version

For You formed my innermost parts;
You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb.

I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.

My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was being formed in secret,
And intricately and skillfully formed [as if embroidered with many colors] in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were appointed for me,
When as yet there was not one of them [even taking shape].

But how do we continue to reach for that dream in the face of delayed or shattered hopes?

How do you learn to see your life through the lens of God and not your circumstances?

It starts with the realization that every day God is with us, right where we are, during every circumstance.

Our destiny is progressive, unfolding even as we walk out our journey.

Destiny also has cycles and seasons.

He positions us in the direction of our destiny, never abandoning us as we learn to trust Him in the valleys even while keeping our eyes on the mountain top.

You may be feeling that you have been in a dark place for so long that He has forgotten about you, but God has been preparing you in secret and the time will come when you will step out from the shadows and begin to dance your own dance of destiny.

Unfolding of wings
As a soul soars
On the current
Of time
This gift
Of one moment
To feel
To touch
To taste
To live unafraid
As raindrops
Fall upon your brow
As the breeze
Caresses your face
And a hymn is heard
As the wind plays
Within the leaves
And the grass
Whispers a benediction
As a heart
And rises
Taking wing
In the wind
